Grand Total compares what a whole shopping list costs delivered, across shops. Here is how a shop gets in, what it gains by talking to us, and what it can never buy.
How shops are added today
- We find shops ourselves. Through barcodes we already know, lists of webshops and affiliate networks. Nobody has to ask to be included.
- We read your pages within robots.txt. Our crawler names itself, keeps to your robots.txt and fetches slowly. What it fetches, and how often.
- You are listed whether or not you pay us. A shop without an affiliate programme is linked to directly and earns us nothing. A comparison that leaves out the cheapest shop because it does not pay is not worth being paid for.

What talking to us adds
- Your delivery terms, so you are in the comparison at all. We rank on the total price delivered. A shop whose shipping we cannot read cannot be totalled, so it is left out, however good its prices are — and that is the most common reason a shop is missing. Ask below, confirm your address from our mail, and this page asks for your shipping rates and free-delivery threshold — then you can be priced.
- A complete product feed instead of a crawl. A feed is your whole range at one moment, so every price comes from the same snapshot rather than from whichever pages our crawler reached this week.
- A one-click basket. When your feed carries your variant ids, a shopper who picks you arrives with the whole list already in your basket instead of adding each item by hand.
- A weekly report on where you win and lose. Which lists you were cheapest for, which you lost, and why — the shipping, a missing item, a price. We are still building it; it will go to the contact address you give us.
What it never does
None of this changes the order. The order is the total price delivered and nothing else — not commission, not paid placement, not the size of the shop. An affiliate agreement only changes the link a shopper follows to you, after the order is decided.
We earn commission on some of the links that lead on to a shop. It does not change the order: that is decided by the total price delivered and by nothing else.

Listing is free. A request is a signal, not an approval: your shop is checked the same way as every shop we find ourselves, and it is listed when a person here has looked at it.
